Janeese Lewis George, Candidate for Mayor, Qualifies For DC Fair Elections in Record Time
Lewis George raised more than $700,000 through individual donations and anticipated public matching within the first 4 hours of the campaign.
Washington, DC — Today, Councilmember Janeese Lewis George announced her campaign for DC Mayor qualified for the DC Fair Elections program in just four hours since launching her campaign, setting a record for the District. To qualify for DC’s Fair Elections program a Mayoral candidate must raise at least $40,000 in DC and from at least 1,000 DC donors. Until today, the fastest a candidate met the requirements was within 14 days.
Councilmember Lewis George currently represents Ward 4 on the DC Council, where she has led the charge on lowering housing costs and raising wages for working people.
