Good Jobs For All
DC should be a city where every resident can build a stable, dignified life, and for many that includes a good job. From the young person looking to start a career to the parent who needs a family-sustaining job to the unjustly fired federal employee, Janeese’s vision is a District that fully invests in workers.
As Mayor, Janeese will make sure our economy supports residents in every ward and balances innovation with equity. She will:
Create pathways to good jobs for all residents.
- Streamline and create more opportunities for students and young people, including expanding vocational, technical, and career-focused programs in schools and neighborhoods.
- Partner with unions and expand registered apprenticeships to build the workforce we need.
- Provide intensive job support to residents who aren’t in school and have dropped out of the labor market.
Increase the supply of good jobs and ensure fair pay.
- Vigorously enforce wage theft laws, expand protections for marginalized workers, and educate workers about their rights.
- Require strong labor peace and project labor agreements and First Source standards for DC contracts and development projects.
Support unemployed workers.
- Establish a Federal Workforce Transition Center to reskill displaced federal employees and contractors for in-demand jobs.
- Improve the Unemployment Insurance program and application platform.
