Ways to vote
By mail
If you’re already registered as a Democrat at your current address, the BOE will mail a ballot to your home starting May 11. Once you get your ballot, it would really help us out if you could fill it out, sign it, and return it ASAP. Don’t forget to sign your ballot.
To return your ballot, you can either mail it back OR drop it off at an official Drop Box. Drop boxes open on May 22. Find the map of drop boxes here. You can track your ballot.
In person
Early voting happens between June 8 and June 14, and lines are likely to be shorter than on Election Day. Bring your photo ID and proof of residence if you are a first-time voter. Find early voting locations here. You can go to any location in any ward.
Or, you can go in person on Election Day, Tuesday, June 16. We recommend not waiting until Election Day. But if you haven’t voted by June 16, bring your photo ID and proof of residence if you are a first-time voter. Find Election Day vote centers here. You can vote at any Election Day vote center.
Ranked choice voting
This is the first year DC will have ranked choice voting (RCV). RCV means you can rank your top candidates instead of voting for just one candidate. Find a full explanation here.
Here is what you need to know to elect Janeese:

- Janeese’s name will be in the 4th row.
- Rank Janeese #1 by marking the column 1 bubble in her row. Do not mark her in any other columns.
- Do not mark anyone else #1.
- Do not rank anyone you wouldn’t want as mayor.
More information about voting can be found on the BOE website.
